DJI Osmo Pocket 3 test: Face tracking and remote microphone
Просмотров 146Месяц назад
In this 3 1/2 minute video I play with face tracking features of the Pocket 3 and the sound quality of the remote microphone. Face tracking feels like magic. To be able to move around and have the camera follow and keep me in frame creates a lot of possibilities. As far as I can recall, every video I ever recorded was a solo effort which meant the camera had to be stationary and I couldn’t move...

    Judging from the newscaster's reference to President Reagan in office, it being a presidential election year (with a note of the economic report being "good news for him" )and it being Friday, May 4th, it's a sure bet this is an aircheck from the morning of Friday, May 4th ........1984.

    *My RUclips channel trailer* I don’t give a lot of attention to my RUclips channel. It’s just the place I park my videos so I can share them here on Google+ and on smays.com. But they provide a nice set of tools for managing your content and tips for how to create a good “experience” for people who find their way to my channel. For example, they recommend a brief (no more than a minute) trailer to give the visitor some idea of what the channel is about. It’s been a couple of years since I updated mine. This one has nothing to do with the video on my channel. I needed to fill that spot on page so I decided to put something together as quickly as possible. I quickly scanned through 5,000+ photos, picking eight or ten almost at random. Then added some music that seemed to fit the images and my current mood. And it’s done. I almost added some quotes from favorite authors but decided that wouldn’t add anything.

    *If I were gonna podcast* ***** asked me what sort of podcast I would do if I were to start one today. I've thought about it a bit and I think it would be interviews with people I find interesting. A good example was this chat with a man who made concrete lawn ornaments in southern Missouri. Or the guy with the home-made drum kit mounted to the dashboard of his pickup. ruclips.net/video/RaP95FolLWY/видео.html Curtis and I disagree (mildly) on whether podcasts and radio are the same thing. I think it would be difficult to find a commercial station that would let me do interviews like these. Too... niche? Too long? The freedom inherent in podcasting makes it a different animal (for me).

    *The Living Healthy Podcast* In 2005 Henry Domke was a practicing physician (now he's a photographer and artist). He was my doc and he was damned good. It wasn't uncommon for him to just talk to his patients for 15 or 20 minutes. An amazing "bedside manner." I was looking for a podcast project at the time and Henry was a natural. We did about 50 shows over the next year. Each was 15-20 minutes. We posted these to a website with show notes and lots of links to additional info. That's gone now but Henry's wisdom is too good to live in the digital closet. So I'm going to archive them on my RUclips page. Here's a sample of topics: How to Stop Smoking The Myth of Exercise How to Get A Good Night's Sleep Depression What is Alcoholism? Allergies Poison Ivy & Ticks Anxiety Disorders Immunization This first show introduced Henry and gives you a sense of his style.

      @smays 9 лет назад

      Good question, ***** I'm not sure I could come up with a topic that isn't already being done (and done better) than I could. That wasn't true back in the early days of podcasting. For me, the topic might be less important than the people I worked with. (I'd never try to solo). There are a few people who I find so entertaining (***** for example) that I'd put in the effort even if nobody listened. Years ago I did a series of short bits I called Brushes With Near Greatness. Those were fun. Sort of mental potato chips. www.smays.com/tag/brush-with-near-greatness/ I think you'd want either a) a subject of very broad interest, or b) have some compelling personalities. People who are interesting/entertaining, regardless of the topic.

    _“He’s a journalist and I’m a politician and if you’re a journalist then you don’t make friends with politicians. You keep your distance because you have to be objective and you have to be willing to ask questions that you know is going to irritate them.”_ I mentioned previously that my long-time friend (and former colleague) Bob Priddy will retire in a month or so, after 40+ years covering the Missouri legislature (and the rest of the state for that matter). U.S. Senator Clair McCaskill spoke at Bob's retirement dinner this week and it's about a fine a tribute as one could ask for.

      Here's a funny bit from the tribute video showing Bob's disgusting work area: ruclips.net/video/NnrekSawQSc/видео.htmlm

    I made this (with a service called animoto) four years ago. I don't think I ever posted here. The video quality isn't that great but you can see that I got a nice finished product with zero effort. Tossed in some stills, a video snippet, picked a theme and hit GO. If the service is still around, you might want to give it a try. (I believe I stopped using because of the price. Free version pretty limited)

    While searching for video of my friend Charlie Peters, I came across this bit of foolishness from about 10 years ago. If I shared it here I can't find it. Please let me know if you've already seen this in my stream and I'll pull it. I shot this on a Sony camcorder in the engineering shop of the place I worked. It was intended to convey my admiration and affection for the engineers who kept things running, including Charlie (3:33). I rehearsed this by drinking four Buds and got it one take. No edits.

      I'm flattered. Unless you're thinking of me for the part of the pervy guy who hangs out in front of the Seven Eleven scratching his ass. I can do pervy but probably too old for the role. And I'm impressed to know someone who directs music videos. Have you done other we can see? That's pretty cool.

    *You booked me where... doin' what?!* Most radio guys (I’m talking pre-1990) have lots of “Brush With Near Greatness” stories. I know I do. Some famous or almost-famous celebrity or performer they interviewed back-stage or who came by the station. Shoot, it’s a big part of why most of us got into radio. My new pal Gaylon Watson recalled interviewing Rocky Marciano. Marciano was the World Heavyweight Champion from September 23, 1952, to April 27, 1956. Marciano is the only person to hold the heavyweight title and go untied and undefeated throughout his career. I find this story noteworthy because Marciano was reduced to refereeing cheesy professional wrestling matches at the VFW in Kennett, MO. I can only assume he beat the shit out of his agent.

    I don't think I knew you could create a PDF within Google Drive. -Can you tell me how you do/did this?- Found it. Will give this a try. Damn, you're right. Never cam up for me because when I create a document in Google Drive/Docs, that's as far as I go. Any PDF is a file I uploaded to drive. Not sure when I would ever create a doc, save as PDF, and then upload that new file to drive/docs.

    It's a great feature but strangely doesn't work with PDFs created within drive itself????
